NEXT STEPS

Now that voters approved a plan to invest in our schools, what’s next?

In August of 2022, Kimball area voters approved a plan to invest $8.1 million for safety and educational improvements at Kimball Elementary School and Kimball Area High School. The plan includes creating secured entrances at both schools, renovating the science labs and FACS classrooms at the high school, and building an addition for early childhood at the elementary school.

What’s been done since the referendum?

After voters approved the plan, our team launched into the design phase. Led by the project architect, the design process includes input from teachers, staff, community members, and students.

Last summer, both the elementary and high school projects were bid successfully. Construction is ongoing on the early childhood wing, which will continue through the summer. Crews have finished the walls of the early childhood wing and have made significant progress on electrical and masonry work. In addition, crews began work on the visiting team room and officials’ room at the high school. Other construction on the high school will begin this summer, with all projects anticipated to wrap up in the fall of 2024.

Temporary fencing is up around the northeast corner of the elementary. NOTE: There is no parking in the northeast lot. Parking is available in all other lots and on Hazel Avenue.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

Kimball Area Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony for the projects on May 16, 2023. Thank you to our students, staff, and community members who attended the event and helped us celebrate this exciting milestone.
